Social Worker

 

Location - Broken Hill 

Position - Full Time 37.5 hours / week

The Social Worker will provide counselling/ support to clients and manage the ongoing professionalism and delivery of the Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast (LLBHC2C) service in the region.  The role primarily will focus on enhancing, developing and supporting the How's Ya Mate program that is currently run within the local AFL clubs. 

How’s Ya Mate? is a mental health and wellbeing program initiated by Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast. HYM aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of sporting club communities by providing training and counselling, starting conversations and breaking down stigmas associated with mental health. 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with clients and staff in a recovery of a strengths-based approach to formulate, implement, and review well-being plans including a comprehensive assessment of need and safety planning. 

  • Lead change processes and practices locally in accordance with emerging service needs, care evaluation results, identified imminent systems problems and coordination of local activities with corporate systems. 

  • Provide assessment, referral, and ongoing short-term counselling to clients. 

  • Assist in the development and support of current projects or programs such as How’s Ya Mate.

 

Essential requirements: 

  • Tertiary qualification and/or experience in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills (working with a diverse range of individuals and groups).

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development including maintenance of accreditations.

Counsellor

 

Location - Broken Hill 

Position - Full Time

LLBHC2C Counsellors are here to support clients to improve their mental health and wellbeing and work with them to overcome emotional, social or behavioral difficulties. 

Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with clients and staff in a recovery of a strengths-based approach to formulate, implement, and review well-being plans including a comprehensive assessment of need and safety planning. 

  • Lead change processes and practices locally in accordance with emerging service needs, care evaluation results, identified imminent systems problems and coordination of local activities with corporate systems. 

  • Provide assessment, referral, and ongoing short-term counselling to clients. 

  • Develop strategies to further engage with communities that will reduce high rates of suicide. 

  • Support the implementation of and evaluate changes in organisational processes and practices in response to emerging service and workforce needs. 

  • Use available information systems to inform decision making, evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff. 

  • Assist in the development and support of current projects or programs.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or experience in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
